Used daily since November, 2023 as a secondary monitor for a work laptop in a hybrid, work at home setup.
Also used to connect video game consoles to.
Dust cover is nice.
Monitor stands on it’s own, foldable base, and has speakers.
Powered by USB-C.
Really happy with it!

The USB-C ports failed and would not receive signal from any source (computer, tablet, phone, game console) and was just a blank screen. Power delivery was also off and on. HDMI only which was frustrating. Too expensive for this type of build quality and Amazon support very poor.

I am blown away by how nice this portable monitor is. It is glossy and the colours are deeper and more vibrant than my 34in OLED. I love how sleek and thin the profile is and the fact that the USB C slot isn’t in the side of the monitor but on the kickstand allows me to hide cables and have it look clean permanently as a second screen (I know I didn’t hide the cables in the picture yet but I was too excited to post this review). Worth every penny.

Like:
* So light, so thin, well built, nice finish.
* Very colorful panel ( best in fps2 color mode for me).
* Oled 4k panel, true black
* Display as good color quality as viewsonic VP16-OLED.
* Single cable Type-C to handle both monitor power and AV.
* Integrated speakers (loud enough) + headphone jack included.
* Comfortable for portable office work
* Text does looks clear and white.
* Overscan mode on-off
* Rgb range limited/full setting toggle
* Retro gaming looks fantastic, as modern gaming.
* 10-bits colors when using type-C as video source under win11
* Included integrated power supply with detachable cable
Dislikes
( all i said below have minimal impact on the overall quality of this monitor)
* It’s not used to display HDR content even if it will work. It doesn’t look good when HDR on.
* Limited to 60hz
* 15.6″ still feel a bit small, still it’s ok to be used as a main monitor.
* Can’t use the built-in stand to display the monitor vertically (as oppose to another viewsonic oled , the vp16-oled)
* Even when using office mode, It’s by default too bright. At nighttime, would be nice to a color mode which have very low brightness by default
* It’s not a big deal but Hdmi as output renders 8-bits colors as oppose to Type-C 10-bits (under windows and problaby in general).
* Can’t be mount on a tripod or stand. You need VP16-OLED for that.
Very happy to own it.
Compared with VP16-OLED, they both display similar results , 4k movies looks the same on both, color wise can’t tell difference. Office work is much better on this monitor compared with VP16.
Perfect for backpack , very light you won’t notice it at all.

I use this screen with a 2022 16″ MacBook Pro and with a 2023 Lenovo Thinkpad X1 (OLED). It is the perfect companion for both. The build quality of the screen is excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised at how light it is. It worked flawlessly with both laptops. Plug and play. Image quality is outstanding which was important to me given the screens on both of my laptops have high resolution and brightness. This has been an issue with other screens. I work remotely across several sites and it is important to me to have dual screen capability. I have tried a few different screens – this is by far the best. It is also great for consuming content. The only issue I have noticed is that it has a different colour temperature to the screen on the MacBook Pro (it is bluer). It matches the Lenovo exactly. I don’t think this is a problem – it is just different. Would love to see a touchscreen version.

Light too, what’s more to love?

Compact and very vivid portable monitor. I love it as it does not have a built in battery to go bad over time, rather it pulls power from the computer. While this does drain the laptop battery faster, it is worth the trade off in my opinion. Very Vivid 4K screen. and bright! Highly recommended as a second monitor for those on the go. It is a bit pricey compared to other brands, but having the name that is trusted and quality to match, is worth the extra price.

This is actually my first time writing a review on Amazon. I was so excited to finally have what I was looking for! So I hope to help out anyone thats struggling. Portable monitors seems to be a growing trend so not much precise information online.
It took me some trial and error with different brands, both well known and third party but this one is it. Overall this monitor fits in everything that I was looking for in a portable monitor.
Now to begin with my specific use case; I am a professional photographer, and at the moment a Computer Science student. I wanted a portable monitor that fits in all of my bags along with my laptop, allows me to do some photo and video editing (16″ MacBook Pro), would connect to my cell phone via USB-C (iPhone 15 Pro), would allow portrait mode for coding projects, and would plug into Nintendo Switch without needing a dock. This is the one that delivered! So thank you so much ViewSonic for delivering!
Some caveats to mention, One Cable USB-C works prefect with the MacBook Pro, even in 4K resolution.
To use with Nintendo Switch or iPhone, the other USB-C port has to be connected to a power source. Wall outlet or PowerBank. (In my scenario I used and Anker PowerBank and it works!)
This is will all portable monitors though, not just this one. So here’s why I settled with this one.
Pros:
+ Super lightweight! This screen is approximately 1.6lbs and will add nothing in weight for carrying.
+ Very Portable! 16″ is a great size and it does a good job at being close to matching the MacBook Pro.
+ 16″ OLED 4K screen (Its great to watch movies but don’t expect it to replace a 65″ 4K OLED TV).
+ 170 Degrees Visual from different angles (Consistent image quality from different angles).
+ 100% DCI-P3 coverage/most of Adobe RGB (which is great for color accuracy, photo and video editing)
+ Built in Portrait mode which is great for coding or editing (might need to level the stand)
+ Has a built in speaker (No, they are not strong but at least its provided, better than nothing)
+ 3.5mm Jack (plugs into a portable speakers with 3.5mm Jack or headphones)
+ Provides Power to devices (iPhone 15/Switch) that are connected via Wall Outlet or PowerBank.
Cons:
– 60hz only (would have been even better at 120hz to match my Mac, and maybe the Switch 2?)
Probably asking for too much but would hav been the icing on the cake.
– Expensive ~$500 (but to be honest it’s not really a con, you get what you pay for and for it to do everything that I need without extra dongles. I’m perfectly fine with paying the price tag)
Overall though I can’t complain about this purchase; just being a little nitpicky. If ViewSonic decides to keep producing these and release a version with 120hz, I would buy it in a heartbeat but as of now it’s perfect! Check out the attached photos for my use cases.

The only other well know brand I tried was the ASUS ZenScreen MB16QHG. Almost kept it too but I did not want to carry around with me additional dongles for my Switch:
Pros:
+ 2K
+ 120hz
+ Built in Stand (Portrait mode too)
+ 3.5mm Jack
+ 100% DCI-P3
+ Full HDMI Cable (Not Mini)
+ Great Portrait Mode Stand
+ Auto-Rotate (Windows Only)
+ Very Lightweight
Cons:
– It doest NOT connect the Nintendo Switch without a dock, then even with a dock connected the 16:10 aspect ratio doesn’t not convert to 16:9 for gaming. It left the gameplay looking distorted and for me personally I wasn’t a fan.
– No built in speakers
– Expensive while lacking features ~$400
—–|
The only third party brand I tried was the UPERFECT 18″ Gaming Monitor (Almost perfect). Would have kept it if I was just for gaming. But it doesn’t fit all my bags, and having to constantly recalibrate it would have sucked.
Pros:
+ 2K
+ 144hz
+ Connects to Nintendo Switch via USB-C without a dock
+ FreeSync
+ Both 16:9/16:10
+ 100% DCI-P3
+ Vesa Mount
+ Affordable ~$257
Cons:
– 18″ Screen not very portable.
– Passible Portrait mode needs Vesa Mount Stand to be more stable.
– Brightness settings reset when disconnected from power.

When I was shopping for a portable monitor, my top two criteria were:
1) Text looks correct with MacOS (no font scaling/aliasing issues)
2) Matte screen (no reflections)
I’m a bit of an aesthete, and these sort of details really drive me up the wall! But this monitor absolutely does the trick. (Note that only the 4K LED model that has a matte screen–the OLED and the touch screen versions seem to be glossy.) The text looks perfect on the screen, and I actually scaled the resolution down to 1680 x 945 in the MacOS Displays settings to duplicate the scale of my laptop screen. The display is plenty bright; I’ve currently got it set to 60%. The color temperature and contrast are great, and there are a bunch of built-in adjustments in case you want to tweak the color, blue light level, and god knows what else.
The monitor controls on the joy knob on the stand are relatively intuitive. The speaker is tinny but hey, it’s there if you need it and it doesn’t come on by default when my laptop is connected. The kickstand on the back is FANTASTIC, solid feeling and endlessly adjustable. This is in landscape mode, though. It’s not particularly stable in portrait orientation and leans back further than I would like, but it would work just fine with a stand or with something propped underneath the kickstand. As far as I can tell the cover doesn’t fold into any sort of additional prop, but it does magnetically attach securly.
The only downside I’ve found is that it takes a little unplugging and replugging for my my Macbook to recognize the monitor sometimes, but once it finds it, it connected immediately. (Like if it doesn’t come on, take the USB-C out and then reconnect, press the power button, etc…it will sort itself out.). In the end, I’m very happy with this monitor and definitely recommend it.

The monitor its self is fine. Lite, sharp image, bright enough but decided it wasn’t really what I was looking for. Returned it and 3 weeks later still waiting for a refund.
So buyer beware, be sure you want to keep this or go through hell to get your money back.
